On the occasion of Valentine’s Day, a popular matrimonial site did a poll of India’s favourite married couples. As many as 3.6 lakh people participated in the poll and voted Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan as their most favourite couple. The duo got 32 percent of the total votes.

It has been a little less than three years since Ash and Abhi exchanged nuptial vows and their marriage is still rock steady. Aishwarya’s increasing popularity has never been an ego hassle for Abhishek, and Ash too has emerged as an ideal bahu for the Bachchans.

Coming a close second are Shahrukh Khan and Gauri Khan with 29 percent of the total votes. There have been absolutely no itches (seven year or ten year) in this marriage. The duo has two kids.

Interestingly, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan emerged the third most favourite couple. They married 37 years ago and though there was believed to be some friction in their marriage in the passing years, the duo has defied all the odds and emerged the steadiest couple.

3 Idiots vs My Name is Khan? Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan

The tiffs between Shahrukh and Aamir refuse to die down. It seems the two never let go of the opportunity for a showdown. The latest of Shahrukh Aamir tiff is that Aamir want the release of his film 3 Idiots to coincide with My Name is Khan. It is pretty obvious that My name is Khan is Shahrukh Khan’s film.

But Rajkumar Hirani, the director of 3 Idiots is not amused. Public is waiting for years to see Kajol Shahrukh together. Obviously director Rajkumar Hirani doesn’t want to take on the formidable duo and risk his film’s fate. But Aamir might be thinking something else that’s why he has gone on a holiday with his kids to USA. This step will delay the release of the 3 Idiots!
The million dollar question is why Aamir is trying to take on the Shahrukh Khan in such a manner? Has Aamir become too confident after the success of Ghajini? Ghajini and Rab ne Bana De Jodi were released around the same time and Ghajini had grossed more income than Rab ne Bana Di Jodi. But an intelligent person like Aamir should think twice before forcing his directors to take such a step. Tiffs between Aamir and Shahrukh are different things but professional lives run on entirely different ingredients.

With his movie “My Name Is Khan” releasing on 12 Feb, Shahrukh Khan is all over the place. Be it at award functions or press conferences or on your favorite reality show, SRK is leaving no stone unturned to promote his big release. What’s more, he also features on the cover page of leading men’s magazine GQ in the February issue.

King Khan, as he is fondly known as, is seen sporting a disheveled, spiky look and holding a placard which states ‘Where’s The Love’? The actor talks about a wide variety of topics in this issue such as his equation with the Bachchan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan to his oddest quirks. Speaking about quirks, Shahrukh says, “I have a strange attachment to sock. They sould feel right. I could be missing a flight, but if my socks are wrong, I have to take them off. I would not wear nylon socks with sneakers. The only time I get disturbed during shooting is over my socks. You can not give me brown socks. I hate different coloured socks”. His mere presence may bring a smile on many faces and yet it’s surprising to know that the one thing Shahrukh finds difficulty in doing is to laugh on screen. He says, “I can not laugh at will on screen. I have a big issue. It’s been years since I had a big laughing scene. I can not laugh in real life either; I smile a lot. When I suddenly laugh with my kids or close friends, they stop and stare at me. I laugh maybe once in two years”.

Padma Awards 2010, Creator A R Rahman and screenland superstar Aamir Khan hit been titled for Padma Bhushan.

Eminent building personalities Zohra sculpturer and Ebrahim Alkazi and noted ‘mridangam’ Carnatic creator Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman are the another threesome chosen for Padma Vibhushan honor by the polity which, in all, titled 130 people, including 13 in the collection of foreigners, NRIs and PIOs. 43 are Padma Bhushan and 83 are Padma Shri.

Cricketer Virendra Sehwag, Hockey domestic Ignace Tirkey, Formula 1 utility Narain Kartikeyan, Badminton grapheme Saina Nehwal, Boxer Vijender Singh and Sachin Tendulkar’s ‘guru’ Ramakant Achrekar hit been designated for Padma Shri awards in sports category.

Among the Padma Bhushan awardees this assemblage are noted NRI hosteller Sant Singh Chatwal, high sawbones Satya Apostle Agarwal and high cardiac doc Ramakant Panda, who performed ‘beating heart’ surgery on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh terminal year.

Idiot is no longer a derogatory word thanks to the latest Aamir Khan-starrer which has rocketed off to a mind-boggling start at box office.

The smiles on the faces of producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra and director Rajkumar Hirani keeps getting broader as hordes of people are lining up to see 3 Idiots which had an unprecedented release in 40 countries with about 2,000 prints by its distributor Reliance BIG Entertainment.

Understandably, the collections have been as big, particularly after rave reviews by critics and the audiences’ word of mouth spreading faster than wild fire. As a result, the film is learnt to have grossed about Rs. 100 crore worldwide in its four-day run, including the paid previews on Thursday. Continue

Pants down and palms up! Give a high five to Rajkumar Hirani, whose formula of cocktailing entertainment with social messages has given us jaadu ki japphi and Gandhigiri in the past. His latest baby 3 Idiots isn’t exactly the cinematic ‘chamatkar’ it’s cracked up to be. It’s a frothy, feelgood, fun-filled, one-time-watch film that leaves you smiling but doubtful whether you wanna walk back in for another viewing.

Borrowing only scraps from Chetan Bhagat’s ‘Five Point Someone’, Hirani and co-writer Abhijat Joshi churn out some delectable idiotgiri, laced with juvenile humour and tear-shedding moments. The only trouble is that the film’s core message is hammered out so many times that by the end it begins to lose its punch. Continue
