Life took a steep turn for her when she won the coveted title of Miss India-World. Delhi girl Pooja Chopra is now in South Africa, vying to win the Miss World crown as she competes with other 120 beautiful girls from different nations.

Talking about India at Miss World, we know how our beauties like Aishwarya Rai and Priyanka Chopra have made us proud. The title of Miss World has been won maximum number of times by India and Venezuela, 5 times each. This year, all eyes are fixed upon Pooja. Can she clinch the crown for the sixth time?

She is a hard working girl and completely focused on winning the crown. “I have worked very hard with my trainers. I am nervous and anxious but I’m also excited. I am aware that it is a huge responsibility and this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. So I keep reminding myself to enjoy it,” says Pooja.

Pooja, 22, stands tall at 5’8” and has done commercials for Mr Muscle, Big 97 FM, Dabur Honey and Coke, among others.

During Miss India, she also won Miss Perfect 10; Miss Catwalk and Nakshatra Miss Sparkling Beauty

On winning Miss India, she said, “I had to pinch myself to make sure it was real and I wasn’t dreaming. In fact, when I was getting crowned, I was actually losing balance. I couldn’t hold myself. I was elated.”

Pooja Chopra was crowned Miss India-World on April 5th, 2009.

Pooja was Navy Queen 2007 1st Runner Up, NDA Queen 2004 1st Runner Up and has also made a cameo appearance in the film Fashion.

She has walked the ramp for brands like Gitanjali, D’Damas and even for renowned designers like Manish Malhotra, Vikram Phadnis, Wendell Rodericks, Mihika Mirpuri, and Roberto Cavalli.

For Miss World 2009, Pooja Chopra has taken along a lot of saris and western outfits designed by Ritu Kumar.

Her trainers are very confident about her.

Pooja said, “I am leaving no stone unturned, I have even styled my own shoes, down to the colour, heel and look, and have selected my bags and accessories in such a manner that everything should be perfect and have an Indianness about it.”
