Saudi Prosecutors Now Claiming Killing of Jamal Khashoggi Was Premeditated

The Saudi crown prince meets Khashoggi's son Salah in Riyadh

While Turkish officials, speaking anonymously, and some senior USA lawmakers have suggested the crown prince himself likely had a role in approving the killing, a confident sounding Prince Salman vowed on Wednesday that the kingdom run by his family for nearly 100 years would help get to the bottom of what he called a "heinous crime". NTV later said they had been given permission and were to begin conducting inspections yesterday. "But there should have never been an execution or a cover-up because it should have never happened".

On Wednesday, the crown prince called the killing of Khashoggi a "heinous crime that can not be justified".

As for his vision for the future of the Middle East, Saudi Crown Prince said: "If we look at the Middle East, the countries that work well are oil-dependent". France has said it will consider sanctions against Saudi Arabia if its intelligence services find Riyadh was behind Khashoggi's death. He had been living in exile in the United States of America since September 2017. "We will continue to explore additional measures to hold those responsible accountable".

Mr Trump also said U.S. intelligence officials, including CIA director Gina Haspel, were returning from Turkey and Saudi Arabia with information about the case.

Saudi Arabia's state-run al-Ikhbariyah TV quoted the country's public prosecutor as saying the suspects in the case "carried out their "deed" with premeditation".

"The Home Secretary is taking action against all suspects to prevent them entering the UK. That was a awful thing that happened", Trump said.

United States companies are hoping to preserve deals with Riyadh that have near-term delivery dates - such as in 2019 and 2020 - and firm up the soft commitments made during Trump's trip to Saudi Arabia in May 2017, Reuters reported.

In the latest iteration of a shifting story, Saudi officials told CNN that the original plan was to convince Khashoggi, who had been writing critical columns in the Washington Post, to return to Saudi Arabia.

The Conservatives have generally been highly reticent to express criticism towards the Saudi government or its crown prince. The tough stance by the Congress may be at odds with the remarks from the White House. "It's a very sad thing".

With Saudis, We Shouldn't Put Our Morals on a Shelf
Saudi officials have strongly denied any involvement in his disappearance and say that he left the consulate soon after arriving. Khashoggi's disappearance is threatening to spark a geopolitical crisis as the USA and Turkey demand answers from Saudi Arabia.

Turkish President Tayipp Erdogan is shedding light on his government's probe into the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Observers say it's unlikely Haspel made the trip to Turkey only to be briefed on evidence, with some speculating it could be to persuade Ankara not to disclose material that implicates its ally Riyadh.

Hariri, a dual Saudi citizen, has thrown his support behind Prince Mohammedas he faces global outrage over the murder of Saudi journalist and government critic Jamal Khashoggi at the kingdom's consulate in Istanbul.

Questions remain as to where the body or body parts of the journalist are located, as Trump demands bipartisan congressional input on how to respond to Saudi Arabia.

Slain journalist Jamal Khashoggi's body has been found in a well at the Istanbul residence of the Saudi consul general, according to Turkish politician Dogu Perincek. "To cover up such savagery would hurt the human conscience".

Erdogan announced that Khashoggi's "ferocious murder" had been "planned", rejecting the Saudi explanation of his death occurring due to a brawl within the consular premises. The Turkish president described Khashoggi's death as a "murder" 15 times in his speech.

"On Tuesday, Donald Trump said Saudi officials had engaged in the "worst coverup ever" and those behind the killing" should be in big trouble". Then they said he died in a fistfight in the consulate.
