Trump After Rosenstein Talk: 'Everybody Understands There Was no Collusion'

No plans’ to fire Deputy AG Rosenstein- Trump amid wiretapping rumours

Trump traveled to Orlando with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

President Trump says he will hold talks with the deputy attorney general on Air Force One amid speculation that Rosenstein may resign or be fired. "I haven't heard him say that again to me".

The president frequently brings up the IL city when he's talking about crime, and he suggested Chicago consider bringing back the controversial policy used by former New York City Mayor Rudy Guiliani, who is also Trump's lawyer. But when he showed up at the White House last Monday to meet with Kelly, he left the meeting unscathed.

"So, while resources are always welcome, the idea of what President Trump is talking about is not only not welcome - it's antithetical to what we're working on, and that is about a strong, pro-active, professional police department".

Fresh off his victory of Judge Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation to the Supreme Court, President Trump doubled-down on his commitment to being the "law and order" president by suggesting Chicago could curtail gun violence by using "stop and frisk" - the famous NY law enabling officers to temporarily detain, question, and frisk civilians upon "reasonable suspicion". Rosenstein is accompanying Mr. Trump on his way to Orlando to deliver remarks to the International Association of Chiefs of Police Annual Convention Monday. The article said that while Rosenstein had made the suggestions over concern about chaos in the administration, none of them actually came to fruition.

Special counsel Robert Mueller's work been overseen by Rosenstein since Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from the investigation. Democrats warned doing so would trigger a Constitutional crisis since Mueller had yet to finish his work.

And House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, D-Md., told reporters late last month that he hoped the deputy AG "stays in place". But if he changes his mind, advisers have urged Trump to wait until after the November midterm elections. Despite protests, Trump backed him the whole time.

Asked by a reporter how the conversation with Rosenstein went, Trump replied, "Great".

House Judiciary Chairman Robert W. Goodlatte says he plans to subpoena the Justice Department for memos Andrew McCabe wrote during his tenure as acting Federal Bureau of Investigation director.

Trying to appease conservative House Republicans who have threatened Rosenstein with impeachment proceedings, the deputy AG has agreed to talk to them in a private session. Don't hit their head, I said, 'You can take the hand away, OK?' " he added.
