Woods, Rose tied for halfway lead at Tour Championship

PGA The Tour Championship- Second Round

In the third round of the 2018 TOUR Championship, Tiger Woods came out birding six of his front nine holes to help him take the solo lead by three shots heading into Sunday. A two-putt birdie on the final hole gave him a 2-under-par 68 and a tie with Justin Rose.

He would finish with a round-of-the-day 65 for a three-stroke lead over Rose and Rory McIlroy.

Woods' last victory was capturing the 2013 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.

Woods, 42 looked in a class of his own as he carded a five-under-par 65 to leave himself on 12 under for the tournament at Atlanta's East Lake Golf Club.

"I think the changes to the Tour schedule next year are great", McIlroy said, after revealing he would look to join the PGA Tour's players advisory committee.

The 14-time Major victor is a two-time former Tour Championship victor and enjoys a remarkable record of winning 54 of 57 PGA Tour events when holding the 54-hole lead. "It doesn't matter who it is I'm playing with". He finished two back of Brooks Koepka.

While Woods could win on Sunday and still not necessarily claim the season-long FedExCup points race and the $10 million bonus that goes with it, Rose's fate is in his own hands.

"I felt very comfortable when I got in the mix there at Tampa [the Valspar Championship] even though it was very early in the start to this year, " Woods said.

But the higher-valued dollar has also diminished the value of the Turkish lira and the Argentine peso, among others. The world's two largest economic superpowers have already applied tariffs on $50 billion of each other's imports.

Stephen Jackson, Andrew Wiggins feud over Jimmy Butler
Wiggins , meanwhile, has been said to be bothered by being relegated to the team's third offensive option behind Butler and Towns. With everything that is going on surrounding him, it will be inevitable to see him with a new team possibly sooner than later.

It's not just Serena: how umpire Carlos Ramos has clashed with players
A number of other individuals and groups have backed Ramos, including the International Tennis Federation. Mouratoglou admitted he was coaching Williams, but said she didn't look at him.

Woods is just 18 holes away from ending a five-year wait for a tournament win.

"I feel good about it". And when he finally missed a fairway at No. 7, Woods hit a 9-iron from the bunker that hopped out of the first cut to about 5 feet for a sixth birdie in seven holes.

"The best way to describe today is I ground out a round", said Woods, a former two-time victor of the season-ending tournament.

"Simple math says that if I play a clean card, the guys behind me have to shoot 67 to force it into extra holes", Woods said.

He appeared to be building separation against the 30-man field with that four-hole stretch on the back nine that he capped off with a 25-foot birdie putt on the peninsula green at the par-3 15th. "In the past, he's been chasing, chasing, chasing and people want him to win so badly and he gets close but you have to remember there are people behind him who are capable of going low". "I was hitting it absolutely dead flush". He even replaced Woods as the face of the EA Sports golf franchise that year.

That has been the biggest issue when Woods has had chances during his comeback.

Only once since he joined the paid ranks in 2007, when injured a year ago, has McIlroy skipped Abu Dhabi. "I've got a bunch of guys behind me that have been playing well and are playing well, and we'll see what happens (Sunday)", he said.
