Alisson signing too good to pass up for Liverpool - Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp- Jurgen Klopp has made some significant signings this summer in the hope to boost the squad

Those mistakes appeared to push Jurgen Klopp's hand to make a firm push to sign Alisson, and the club did so after agreeing a £67 million fee with Roma to secure the transfer.

In the two years since however, Klopp's Liverpool have become massive big spenders themselves; and he does not care one iota if you call him a hypocrite over this.

Back in 2016, when Manchester United broke the world's transfer fee record in re-acquiring Paul Pogba from Juventus for £89.3 million, Klopp harshly criticized the deal.

Speaking in the United States before Liverpool's Champions Cup game against Borussia Dortmund in Charlotte on Sunday (21:05 BST), Klopp said: "The world has changed completely".

"First and foremost, my responsibility is for this club to be as successful as possible, and it's not about pushing through my thoughts on that and saying: "no, I don't want to buy players, and I don't want to pay big money" and stuff like that", Klopp said. It is only an opinion in that moment. I couldn't have imagined since then that the world would change like it has.

"He is in very good shape, that's true".

"Still, we need to replace players - Emre Can left, good business bringing Fabinho in".

While the likes of Divock Origi and Dominic Solanke have struggled to make an impression, Sturridge has caught the eye every time he has taken to the field.

Jurgen Klopp has revealed his plan for new signing Naby Keita and how he intends to utilise the midfielder during the upcoming season.

"He has a contract at Dortmund, no?"

"We have the players we want".

"When I saw him at Melwood, he looked fit", said Klopp. That was really good.

Matip missed the end of last season with a thigh injury and picked up a suspected muscle tear, ensuring the defender will be doubtful for the opening game at home to West Ham. They know him already. For this, there's still space for development. But I like him and it's not like that could be the problem.

The 26-year-old only played in two of Egypt's three games in Russian Federation this summer and struggled to replicate his record-breaking Liverpool form as a result of the injury.

"If he would at one point join us I don't know". When we found there was more of a chance, we had to jump on.
