Trump Blasts EU's Fine on Google

European Union officials on Wednesday also ordered Google to stop using its popular Android mobile operating system to block its rivals, adding to trade tensions between Washington and Brussels.

The Brussels regulator insisted the tech giant had used Android illegally to "cement its dominant position" in user searches.

Having said that, the fine represents just over two weeks of revenue for Google parent company Alphabet, according to Reuters - a sum that "would scarcely dent" the company's current cash reserves of $102.9b. A team of 100 engineers have been working in Fuchsia OS and they expect to achieve this goal in 5 years.

"They truly have taken advantage of the U.S., but not for long!" he said.

To Trump, the fine appeared to serve as the latest evidence of Europe's exploitation of the United States on a variety of matters, including trade and nations' contributions to defense spending, and it came a day after he threatened "tremendous retribution", particularly on European-made cars, if the EU doesn't change its trade policies.

The fine was issued over what the European Union describes as "illegal practices" over how the internet giant implements its search and web browser apps on the devices of Android smartphone makers.

Second quarter Netflix subscription numbers disappoint
Earnings per share of $0.85 topped estimates of $0.79, but revenue of $3.91 billion fell short of the expected $3.94 billion. In a research note, GBH Insights analyst Daniel Ives called the second-quarter showing "a near-term gut punch" to Netflix .

President Trump picks Judge Brett Kavanaugh
Some Republican senators had favored other options. "I look forward to meeting with him and discussing his record first-hand". Replacing Justice Kennedy's swing vote with a far-right jurist like Judge Kavanaugh could change the rules in America.

The European Commission on Wednesday imposed a €4.34 billion ($5.06 billion) fine on Google for breaching the EU's antitrust rules through Android.

Vestager said Google had shut out rivals by forcing major phone makers including South Korea's Samsung and China's Huawei to pre-install its search engine and Google Chrome browser, thereby freezing out rivals.

Google is an ambitious company to say the least, and the individual teams that work on what's coming down the pipe are just as focused on building new and exciting products.

Google provides Android free to smartphone manufacturers and generates most of its revenue from selling advertisements that appear along with search results.

A year ago eMarketer forecast almost $50billion would be made by Google in 2017 from mobile ad revenue.

"If phone makers and mobile network operators couldn't include our apps on their wide range of devices, it would upset the balance of the Android ecosystem".
