Thon Maker One Of 13 Ejections After Brawl Between Australia, Philippines

A wild brawl erupted during Monday's game between Australia and the Philippines - and 13 players were ejected.

"Let's call this for what it is".

One player even got hit with a chair.

"I have to see what FIBA does".

"Hours later and my blood is still boiling".

Andray Blatche showed the way for Gilas with 12 points and 10 rebounds, but his numbers went down the drain after he, alongside eight other Gilas members were ejected for their participation in the melee. Chris Goulding is under a pack of officials and players.

After the game, Australia has a 5-1 record in topping the group, followed by the PH with a 4-2 mark.

It had been a chippy second half, but things truly boiled over when Filipino guard Roger Ray Pogoy bulldozed through his defender, Australia's Chris Goulding. For the Philippines players to engage in a fight like this - much less act like heroes in the aftermath - is shocking. "We already restrained the players before the game ... it's hard to restrain them".

After being part of a bad fight in the Australia-Philippines' FIBA World Cup qualifier game on Monday, Andray Blatche - who spent nine seasons in the National Basketball Association - took to Twitter to explain why he didn't just use his words. "It was of course the height of being unsportsmanlike but at the same time we appreciate that it's something that we have to be sorry about because it should never have happened", Roque said during a Palace press briefing.

Redistricting ruling has both sides looking at next steps
Instead, in a case challenging the heavily Republican-and heavily gerrymandered-Wisconsin legislature, the justices punted. Dan Soucek, left, and Brent Jackson, right, review maps during a meeting of The Senate Redistricting Committee at the N.C.

Both basketball organisations are awaiting penalties for the brawl. "This is not the spirit in which sport should be played and certainly not in the spirit in which we aim to play basketball".

"The most alarming part to us was that it escalated out of the players' side, into fans and officials".

Mathew Wright (L) of the Philipines and Daniel Kickert of Australia fight during their FIBA World Cup Asian qualifier game.

Philippines coach Chot Reyes laid the blame squarely with the Australians, claiming they had created an atmosphere that prompted his players to react as strongly as they did, due to underhand treatment of his players earlier in the night.

"The way in which we want the game to be projected is severely compromised". Kickert is a model professional with an excellent disciplinary record, hopefully that is taken into account.

Despite Gilas and Australian players coming to their defense for their respective sides, Roque also clarified that the incident was "regretful and should not have happened".

Fiba will run a detailed video review of the game, security and the actions of both teams, both coaches and the referees.

The chaos ensued late in the third quarter with Australia holding a comfortable 79-48 lead.
