Will talk about Syria, Ukraine and elections with Putin, says Trump

Trump praises Russia for fantastic World Cup

White House National Security Adviser John Bolton on Sunday would not commit, one way or the other, on President Donald Trump's comments that "we're going to have to see" if the United States eventually recognizes Russia's annexation of Crimea.

Mr. Trump and Putin are set to meet in Helsinki on July 16 to "discuss relations between the United States and Russian Federation and a range of national security issues", the White House said Thursday.

Explaining to Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace that the summit would be "somewhat unstructured" so as to skip "the pressure of immediate deadlines or crises", Bolton said that he didn't think that Trump has conceded his leverage over the election meddling issue by accepting Russia's innocence on Twitter.

The summit could irritate United States allies, such as the United Kingdom, who want to isolate Putin, or countries such as Ukraine who are nervous about what they see as Trump's overly friendly attitude toward the Russian leader. The US president said he may also raise the issue of Crimea's reunification with Russian Federation in 2014. "I think the president will have a conversation about this and say, 'We don't want to see meddling in the 2018 election". "That's not the position of the United States", he told CBS on July 1.

"We're going to talk about Ukraine, we're going to be talking about Syria".

On "Meet the Press", Graham said he supports the meeting but hopes Trump will come out strongly against Russia's actions.

'We don't want anybody tampering with elections, ' he said.

FIFA World Cup 2018, highlights, Rostov, Mexico beat South Korea
Winning the group with three straight victories will be a good sign, but getting past the next round is the ultimate goal. This win followed one of the World Cup's most confounding upsets, when Mexico toppled Germany 1-0 in its opener.

The analyst went on to say Americans viewed the alleged hacking as "aggression against the country" and believed the Russian government "caused some trouble there".

On Friday, Trump told reporters he will mention it.

When he finished, Wallace said, "Well, you say some of the things that we listed, these were all obviously reported, some of them were clearly true".

"I would urge President Trump work with Russian Federation in Syria", Graham said.

Trump and Putin have met twice before on the sidelines of global gatherings and spoken at least eight times by phone. "That's why the president is going to talk to him about it again".

Trump also suggested that scrapping sanctions on Russian Federation depended on its actions, including in Syria. In April, a news anchor for the state-run network Vesti 24 mocked USA fears about a potential nuclear war with Russian Federation, jokingly advising audiences to eat "fewer candies and more water".
