Jeff Immelt Pulls Out of Running for Uber CEO

I have decided not to pursue a leadership position at Uber.

Benchmark cited that investigation, which focused on widespread sexism and sexual harassment at Uber, and a lawsuit brought against Uber by Google's Waymo over self-driving technology as reasons why Kalanick had to go and in their lawsuit against him now. And Immelt pulled out of the race Sunday because of problems with Uber's board, according to a source familiar with the matter.

As Business Insider and other news outlets have reported, Uber's board has been meeting since Friday to try and pick a new CEO.

Supposedly, Uber is anxious not just about criticism of Immelt's time at GE (his performance there was mixed), but also former CEO Travis Kalanick's eagerness to have Immelt take his old position. The company will hear from Immelt and an unnamed "dark-horse candidate" who will both present their strategy and vision for the future of the ride-hailing company.

Uber didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. Two sources claim that Whitman is now the "likely candidate" despite her previous objections. Expedia is the world's largest online travel agency by bookings.

Baltimore's Gervonta Davis Knocks Out Francisco Fonseca
It was a weird performance for Davis, who hadn't done that much showboating or fought as sloppy in the ring in his past fights. In the seventh round, Davis' feet got tangled with Fonseca's leg and that allowed Fonseca to land a meaningful left hand.

But I also feel compelled to voice my distress over the events of the last two weeks. He said he would not be bullied by hate groups into quitting.

Among Khosrowshahi's first tasks at Uber would be filling a slew of executive vacancies, including those of chief financial officer, chief operating officer and general counsel. The Iranian-born businessman moved to the United States along with his family at the age of four as a refugee after the Iranian revolution.

Khosrowshahi is respected in the Silicon Valley for handling the huge expansion of Expedia Inc.to over 60 countries, reports suggested.

In recent months, the company faced negative attention regarding its work culture, which has been linked to Kalanick's leadership. He is also on the board of the New York Times Company and sports merchandise company Fanatics Inc.

Despite the controversies, Uber is still a growing company. That committee is trying to change the company's culture so it's better behaved, a hard task without a top leader.

Mr Immelt, who stepped down from GE earlier this year, had been seen as one of the strongest candidates for a role that has proven hard to fill amid disputes between investors and former chief executive Mr Kalanick. He retains a seat on the board and is battling with venture capitalist investor Benchmark Capital to keep the rights to appoint two more board members.
