Iran's president begins a second term to deliver on reform promises

Iran President Hassan Rouhani vows to end isolation as he begins his second term

President Robert Mugabe has left for Tehran, to attend the swearing in ceremony of Iranian president, Hassan Rouhani on Saturday.

Speaking at a ceremony marking the formal endorsement of President Hassan Rouhani for his second term in office, Khamenei said that Washington will "use any excuse to make a fuss" against Iran, and added, "You launch a satellite-carrying missile, they make noise", he said, and described the Iranian launch as a "scientific and technical job that is routine and necessary".

Britain, France and Germany who signed the deal alongside Russia, China and the United States remain firm backers of the agreement and are eagerly seeking to rebuild trade ties with Iran despite logistical problems caused by USA sanctions.

However, ahead of the ceremony Mr Rouhani accused the U.S. of undermining the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers.

Since assuming office in January this year, US President Donald Trump has adopted a hard line stance against Iran, which he accuses of sponsoring terrorism.

"We will never accept isolation", Rouhani told a packed audience of Iranian political and military officials in Tehran.

The inauguration drew an estimated 130 high-ranking global guests, according to Iran's state TV.

"The world should know that any breach of the deal will face a unified reaction of the Iranian nation and government".

Gunaratne broke his hand in three places while trying to take Shikhar Dhawan's catch in the first innings. From a doubtful starter, Pujara had made himself one of the first names on the team sheet again.

Trump, who during his election campaign past year called 2015's nuclear agreement "the worst deal ever", signed new sanctions into law on Wednesday, along with measures against Russian Federation and North Korea.

The new US sanctions could embolden Rouhani's conservative rivals who say the nuclear deal was a form of capitulation.

Rouhani met with European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini before the ceremony and called for greater efforts to safeguard the 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers in the face of new U.S. sanctions. The accord placed limits on Iran's nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief. The Trump administration and Congress have been busy slapping a variety of sanctions, some unprecedented, on Iran for its conglomerate of belligerence. The new parliament will vote on a bill boosting financial support to the Revolutionary Guards and a missile programme, both of which are targeted by the sanctions.

In May, Rouhani won re-election in a landslide victory after securing 57 percent of the votes and defeating his main contender Ebrahim Raeisi, the current custodian of the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza (PBUH).

Rouhani stressed the importance of a strong economy in the country and said the next government eyes economic reforms.

He was met at the Tehran International Airport by Iranian Labour, Corporate and Social Services Minister Ali Rabiei, Zimbabwean ambassador to that country Nicholas Kitikiti and other embassy staff.

Much of Rouhani's popularity has been built on his promise of greater civil liberties, including more rights for women, but Iran has still had only one female cabinet member since the 1979 revolution - ironically under hardliner Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
