'Devastated' Adele cancels final two London concerts

Adele says she has damaged vocal chords, cancels final two shows of tour

"I had to push a lot harder than I normally do", she wrote.

The 29-year-old star apologised after damaged vocal chords meant thousands of fans will miss out on seeing the star performer her last concerts of the year.

"To say I'm heartbroken would be a complete understatement", Adele wrote in a Twitter statement Friday.

Adele previously underwent throat surgery to remove a benign polyp.

Adele said she considered going ahead with her Saturday night performance but didn't think she would have been able to make it through the show and didn't want to "crumble" on stage.

Some fans were particularly disappointed because the 15-time Grammy victor has suggested repeatedly that this may be her final tour. I'm doing really well, on the mend, super happy, relaxed and very positive with it all. "It's as if my whole career has been leading up to these four shows".

"Touring is a peculiar thing, it doesn't suit me particularly well", Adele said. It;s reassuring to know there are still handsome people out there, I can't believe someone has done this for us.

It is not the first time Adele has experienced problems with her vocal cords.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry for your disappointment".

"I love you, see you later, wish me luck, I'm sh**ting myself". She adds that she is dramatic and have a bad history of touring, but all the tours she has done until now - 119 till date - have been an absolute thrill.

She said refunds would be available to fans if shows can not be rescheduled, signing off with: "I'm sorry, I'm devastated".

Though the news of the show cancellations is devastating to fans, there is an even bigger question lurking beneath the surface: Will Adele ever tour again?

Refunds for the two shows will be available if the shows can not be rescheduled.

Adele is in the midst of performing her four final shows for her 25 tour, which concludes on July 2 in London's Wembley Stadium.

The 15-time Grammy victor said she had already "maxed out on steroids and aids for my voice" and that she was unwilling to lip-sync her performance. "It's been a very emotional few days, I was crying, but happy tears, it was happy emotional".

When Adele opened her world tour in Belfast in March last year, it was her first United Kingdom concert in four-and-a-half years.
