No bond for woman accused of leaking top-secret documents

After printing out the report on May 9, she mailed them to a reporter with The Intercept, the news website. The federal crime carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison if she's convicted.

That news outlet is widely believed to be The Intercept, which published a report Monday detailing an apparent NSA document that said Russian military intelligence attempted to hack a US company that provides election software.

At the bail hearing Thursday, prosecutors told U.S. Magistrate Judge Brian Epps that they had uncovered additional information, including what they described as "disturbing" notebook entries, that made victor a flight risk and danger to the public if she is released before trial.

Victor was a contractor with top-secret clearance when she allegedly leaked a classified report about Russian election interference to the online publication The Intercept.

It is unknown what happened to the thumb drive.

Reality Winner, the US intelligence contractor charged with leaking classified National Security Agency material, on June 8, 2017.

Solari said prosecutors were not trying to link her to terrorism, however. "Everybody in America knows what she looks like at this point".

The US attorney also alleged that victor once searched on her work computer, while she was still in the Air Force, for the phrase: "Do top secret computers detect when flash drives are inserted?"

Victor served in the Air Force from December 2010 to 2016, leaving as a senior airman who was a cryptologic language analyst.

"I think they're going to try to make an example out of her because of the political climate right now", Winner-Davis said.

Contractor charged with leaking classified NSA info on Russian hacking
The NSA did not conclude whether the hackers had any effect on the outcome, The Intercept said . Government Agency determined that six individuals printed this reporting.

Clinton: Trump unleashed 'dangerous' level of hate
The former senator and secretary of state says readers will find out what was going through her head at key moments of the race. She accused the Russians of hacking her campaign and "weaponizing information" through dissemination of "fake news" reports.

Solari also said that Federal Bureau of Investigation agents recovered notebooks in which victor said she wanted to "blow up the White House" and move to Kurdistan or Nepal.

Though she was active on social media, victor doesn't appear to have discussed her work online.

Winner's mother, Billie Winner-Davis; stepfather, Gary Davis; and a friend testified in court.

But Winner's attorney, Titus Thomas Nichols, told The Associated Press that "if there is a confession, the government has not shown it to me".

The government contractor accused of leaking classified material to an online news outlet will remain in custody as her case proceeds, with prosecutors suggesting she may have had plans to leak more.

Winner, dressed in an orange jumpsuit with the word "Prisoner" on the back, spoke very little to Judge Brian Epps.

Winner's mother and stepfather told the judge she had no criminal history and they would use their 20-acre home in Kingsville, Texas, to finance her bond with confidence she would never run.

An FBI affidavit says victor confessed to copying and mailing the classified report when agents searched her home last Saturday.

Reality Winner, a 25-year-old National Security Agency contractor who is also an Air Force veteran, was being held in Lincoln County, Ga. They seized items including cellphones, computers and Winner's passport. "She would not, I can tell you that for certainty", mother Billie Davis-Winner said Tuesday.

Solari said victor also confessed to her mother during a recorded jailhouse phone call, saying: "Mom, those documents".
