British Police Name Third Attacker From Saturday's Rampage In London

2 London Bridge attackers named; prime minister criticized before election

They killed eight people in the attack before armed marksmen shot them dead at the scene. Earlier Wednesday, two other men were also arrested on terrorism charges.

Questions are being raised about whether British police missed crucial warning signs that could have prevented the attack.

Before he was stopped at Bologna airport a year ago, he told his mother he was going to Rome, but had instead bought a one-way ticket to Istanbul, planning to travel on to Syria, Italian police believe.

An Italian interior ministry official told the Associated Press that British and Moroccan intelligence and law-enforcement authorities were informed that Zaghba had been flagged as someone who was a risk - but no other details were released.

Police early Wednesday arrested a 30-year-old man in east London in connection to the attack and are searching his home.

"MI5 and the police have already said they would be reviewing how they dealt with Manchester and I would expect them to do exactly the same in relation to London Bridge", she told Sky News.

Police named Zaghba as the third man who took part in the attack on Saturday night in central London, when attackers drove a white van across London Bridge hitting pedestrians before they got out and went on to stab members of the public.

The family of an off-duty police officer, Charlie Guenigault, who has been hailed as a hero for running toward the attackers, praised his bravery and said he would likely do the same again if faced with the same situation.

On Tuesday morning, the third and final London Bridge attacker was named as Youssef Zaghba, a Moroccan-Italian man.

The prosecutor said Italy had lacked the evidence to prosecute Zaghba, but had warned Britain about him.

The Home Office has not commented as there is an ongoing police investigation, while Scotland Yard has said Zaghba, who lived in east London, was not a police or MI5 subject of interest.

In the documentary aired on Channel 4 and directed by Jamie Roberts, Butt is shown praying in a London park and having an altercation with British police personnel.

London police have said all 12 people held since the attack from the Barking neighborhood, have been freed.

Six women and four men arrested by police after the attack are still being questioned, police said. He told the BBC: "People are going to look at the front pages today and they're going to say, 'How on earth could we have let this guy or possibly more through the net?'"

The Islamic State terror group has claimed responsibility for the massacre, which sparked fears that Britain is in the grip of a wave of copycat incidents.

The area around Borough Market is not expected to reopen Tuesday.

Opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn, when asked by ITV television if he backed calls for May to resign, said: "Indeed I would".

The Guardian reports eight people were killed in the attack, not including the three terrorists, who were identified as Khuram Butt, Rachid Redouane, and Youseff Zaghba.
