Curry, Durant power Warriors past Cavs in Game 1, 113-91

Beaten past year by Cleveland's historic comeback, the Warriors will try to avenge that defeat and get back on top when they face the Cavaliers again, the first time two teams have met three straight times in the NBA Finals. The Warriors are back with a more formidable team after adding Kevin Durant, a healthier one after Stephen Curry was banged up last post-season, and not even LeBron James and the Cavs are given much chance of stopping them. The Warriors have the big lead even on off nights for Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. He had 28 points, including 6 3-pointers, 10 assists and 6 rebounds on the night. "We gave up a lot in transition, because they scored 27 points".

They have become the modern-day Lakers and Celtics, who met six times in the Finals during the 1960s and three times during the 1980s. They extended that lead to eight, 60-52, by halftime.

After a competitive first half, the Warriors pulled away in the third quarter and left the Cavs in the dust. Though Boston at least put up a fight, winning Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals in Cleveland.

Golden State can't get too high.

"People just automatically think that, 'Man, this guy ain't from the hood. So we'll see. It worked pretty well in Game 4 of last series".

"The most unfortunate part is that I can't be with my kids right now", James said.

The Cavaliers are making their fourth appearance in the NBA Finals this year.

Last year, the Cavaliers battled back from a 3-1 series deficit to defeat the Warriors on their home court at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California. "I know it wouldn't jolt me", Brown said regarding Kerr's possible return to the bench.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Kevin Durant drove through the lane untouched for dazzling dunks time and again, finishing with 38 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in his first NBA Finals for Golden State and leading the Warriors past LeBron James and the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers, 113-91 on Thursday night in Game 1. But Steve is so conscientious about the players - and you know the storyline and all these other things - that he wants to make sure that he feels good enough to come back and do it on a full-time basis and not rock the boat with anyone or not cause a distraction from our team.

After a 346-day wait, the NBA Finals are back and it's as if nothing has changed. It will be their third straight matchup with the Warriors, with both teams having won one title in the past two years.

When Durant joined the Golden State Warriors during free agency this summer, their rematch with the Cleveland Cavaliers seemed inevitable.

This will be star-studded affair with Golden State's Kevin Durant joining the mix as one of seven 2016 All-Stars in the series.
