Trump poised to pull out of Paris climate deal: US media

AFP | President Donald Trump's administration is poised to announce the United States' withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement, U.S. media reported on Wednesday.

Musk said last week that he talked to Trump about the Paris climate agreement, the 2015 accord in which most nations committed to reducing emissions to fight climate change.

Trump tweeted on Wednesday that he would announce his decision within the "next few days" shortly after a wave of reports that he intends to pull out of the deal.

The report of the apparent decision comes hours after the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged the USA to remain within the Paris Agreement, which seeks to limit global warming to as close to 1.5 degrees Celsius as possible.

An official who spoke to ABC News about Trump's likely decision cautioned that nothing is final until the president announces it, and that the White House is now working out a way to roll out and explain the reasons behind his decision.

The United States is the world's biggest economy and the second largest emitter of greenhouse gases after China.

The Obama administration pledged a 26 to 28 percent cut in US emissions, which Republicans have criticized for potentially having a negative impact on the American economy and its energy sector.

Dayton said he won $50 million for a preschool initiative that still falls short of what he had hoped to accomplish. Paul ordinances slated to take effect on July 1, 2017, will become effective on that date.

Axios news outlet, which first reported that Mr Trump would withdraw, said details of the move were being worked out by a team that includes EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt. It would reflect a major reversal of the Obama administration's efforts on climate change. "I can get back to you".

"As with so many other matters, from human rights to healthcare, the Trump administration has continued to surrender our nation's longstanding role as a global leader", Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles) said.

The reports follow Trump's refusal to express support for global efforts to combat climate change at a G7 summit with European leaders last week. "We saw this community disrupted so tremendously by something that was directly affected by climate change there's no question about it".

She described the discussion as "very hard, not to say very unsatisfactory". The president has long complained that the agreement will cost the us up to six million jobs and promised to pull the USA out of the deal during his presidential campaign.

The U.N.'s main Twitter page quotes Secretary-General Antonio Guterres as saying: "Climate change is undeniable".

She says in a statement that the landmark accord "honors our collective moral responsibility to leave future generations with a planet that is clean, healthy and sustainable".
