Trump makes G-7 deal on trade, takes rain check on climate

The senator said during an interview with CNN's State of the Union on Sunday that it would be an issue for the US if Trump did not reaffirm the country's previous commitment to the accord, made under former president Barack Obama in 2015.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel told reporters on the Italian island "the entire discussion about climate was very hard, if not to say very unsatisfying", while Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni, said: "I hope they [the US] decide in the right way".

Defense Secretary James Mattis said Trump was "open" and "curious" about why the other members of the Group of 7 most industrialized nations ― Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom ― cared about combating climate change, which the president has dismissed as "a hoax".

While the leaders of the six other most powerful countries in the world walked just 700 yards, low-energy Donald decided it'd be better that he take a seat in a golf cart and get a ride to the plaza for the group photo.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama's numerous calls for US President Donald Trump not abandon the Paris Agreement will be answered this week.

The airline told local media the plane, an Airbus A321, landed safety at Honolulu International Airport at 11:35 a.m. local time. Fighter jets escorted an American Airlines plane to Honolulu after a passenger attempted to breach the hardened cockpit door.

Trump announced in a tweet Saturday that he would make his "final decision" this week on whether or not to keep the U.S.in the landmark accord in which nations agreed to work toward curbing greenhouse gas emissions to address climate change.

The comments from Mattis, in an interview aired today, come after Trump tweeted yesterday that he would take a decision "next week" on whether to stick to or renege on the climate agreement.

If the USA pulls out of the Paris deal, it would become the largest producer of greenhouse gas emissions not included in the agreement, according to EPA data. "A lot of people in my country are against this agreement", Trump allegedly said. And to ensure that happens, countries have committed to reducing their carbon emissions.

An AFP report from early March which cited the New York Times stated that the Trump Administration team was divided over whether the United States should withdraw or remain in the Paris Climate Agreement.
