Senate Intelligence Committee Using Subpoenas To Pursue Russia Probe

Russian intelligence agents and politicians discussed how to manipulate President Trump through connections with his top aides, it has been reported.

Flynn has expressed a willingness to testify in exchange for immunity, but Schiff said there was little chance the House committee would agree to that. Both he and Mr Flynn have denied any collusion with Russian Federation or involvement in any plot to disrupt the election.

He also said when he stepped down from the Central Intelligence Agency as Mr Trump took office, he did not know if there had been collusion.

Glassner did not immediately respond to a request for comment and a White House representative had no immediate comment, the Post said.

Mr Brennan said: "I was convinced in the summer that the Russians were trying to interfere in the election".

U.S. intelligence agencies concluded in January that Moscow tried to tilt the November presidential election to Mr Trump's favour, including by hacking into and leaking the emails of senior Democrats.

The controversy has engulfed Trump's young administration since he fired FBI Director James Comey two weeks ago amid the agency's investigation of possible Russian Federation ties.

Separately, Carter Page, a former foreign policy adviser to Trump's presidential campaign, told Reuters via text message that he would testify before the House Intelligence Committee but was 'still working out details'.

China's LeEco to slash US jobs amid global pull-back
Sunac also holds a 15% stake in film production company Leshi Pictures, and 33.5% of Leshi Zhixin, LeEco's smart Internet TV unit. Jia Yueting, left, posed with Sun Hongbin, right, when Sunac invested RMB15.04 billion (US$2.18 billion) in LeEco in January.

"While we disagree with General Flynn's lawyers' interpretation of taking the Fifth ... it's even more clear that a business does not have a right to take the Fifth", the panel's vice chairman, Democratic Senator Mark Warner, told reporters, referring to Flynn's decision to invoke his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.

The Kremlin's operatives were reportedly confident they could use relationships with Paul Manafort, the Trump campaign manager, and Michael Flynn, the former National Security Advisor, as leverage over the US President.

Kushner has agreed to discuss his Russian contacts with the Senate Intelligence Committee - which is conducting one of several investigations into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

The leaders of the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee said on Tuesday they would subpoena two of Flynn's businesses after he declined to hand over documents in its separate Russian Federation probe.

Sen. James Lankford, an Oklahoma Republican on the intelligence panel, said Flynn's decision would not stop the committee's investigation, tweeting: "It is Mike Flynn's right to plead the 5th".

Mr Manafort quit the Trump campaign in August a year ago after his close ties to contacts in Ukraine and Russian Federation were made public.

He was sacked from his position at the White House in February, after less than a month on the job, for failing to disclose the content of talks with Sergei Kislyak, Russia's ambassador to the United States, and misleading Vice President Mike Pence about the conversations. "We would like him to tell his story because he publicly said: 'I've got a story to tell.' We're allowing him that opportunity to tell it".
