Armed men stormed state Radio, Television building in Jalalabad, Afghanistan

Afghan security forces arrive at the site of an attack in Jalalabad city eastern Afghanistan

Militants attack on the National Radio Television building in Afghanistan's Nangarhar province left at least two people killed, media reports said on Wednesday. Other militants then entered and battled security forces for four hours. One was a suicide bomber who blew himself up and three were killed by security forces while the fifth was arrested.

So-called Islamic State has claimed the attack, which is near an IS stronghold on the eastern border with Pakistan.

Islamic State jihadists have claimed responsibility for the raid in eastern Nangarhar province, where the U.S. military dropped its largest non-nuclear bomb last month in an unprecedented strike.

TRT World spoke with Kabul-based journalist Bilal Sarwary for the latest.

Four people, including two of the attackers, have been confirmed dead and six others were injured, authorities told Xinhua news agency.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack. Last month the USA military dropped its largest non- nuclear bomb in Nangarhar, killing dozens of IS militants. Both Isis and the Taliban terror groups are present in the area.

Seventeen civilians and seven members of the security forces were wounded, he added.

The attack on the Jalalabad offices of RTA highlights the growing dangers confronting Afghan journalists as the traditional Afghan spring fighting season rages.

At least 16 people, including journalists, were wounded in the attack. It came just over a week after it was confirmed that the leader of Islamic State in Afghanistan had been killed in a USA drone strike.
