Melissa McCarthy adds spice (and Spicer) as host of 'SNL'

Aidy Bryant begins the sketch as Sarah Huckabee Sanders - daughter of Mike Huckabee and a "big Southern hamburger" mother -and she is filling in as press secretary. "I'm famous - it's okay", fake-Trump responded.

Spicer said in an interview with the news magazine show Extra in February that the impression was "funny", although he also suggested she "could dial back" the performance somewhat. "Let's do this, first question: Michelin Man - oh, I'm sorry, I mean Glenn". And if simply casting a woman to play Spicer angered Trump, it was clear what would push him over the edge.

It was later corrected to say Spicer was "among" the bushes, not "in" the bushes. And once the two were reunited, Trump's patronizing, controlling treatment of Spicer turned physical. "He's my friend", a pained Spicer answers.

After tracking down Trump (played by Alec Baldwin) to his New Jersey golf course, Spicer asks whether the rumors were true about his imminent termination.

McCarthy did a double take and tried to cover up she did not remember inviting them on the show.

The White House's chief spokesman may actually be getting booted from his position, which was parodied in a skit on the latest episode of SNL over the weekend that was hosted by McCarthy.

"Sure, O.K.", Baldwin's Trump shrugs, knowing that without Republicans willing to stand up to him, he can get away with just about anything.

Trump reassures Spicer that he won't replace him with Sanders ("She doesn't have your special spice").

New Zealand central bank maintains interest rate at 1.75 pct
The Reserve Bank has held its cash rate steady at a record low 1.75 percent, and pointed to only a gradual rise in interest rates. The central bank attributed recent inflation gains to rises in fuel and food prices which it deemed to be temporary.

With the obvious joke covered, the sketch then addressed media reports speculating that Sanders would soon be taking over Spicer's position.

"Sean, kiss me", Baldwin said.

Responding to questions about Trump's state of mental health, Spicer retorted: "If he's insane, he's insane like a fox with mental problems".

And then, boom. You guessed it.

A kiss of death, perhaps?

A charming closing credits, where Steve Martina appeared to welcome McCarthy into the coveted five-timers club. And her impersonation was so unexpected that it took audience members, at home and in the studio, several moments until they recognized her.

That wasn't the only sketch for Baldwin's Trump.

All of which made the ruthlessness with which she later attacked Spicer all the more satisfying.
