Wall's bucket stretches series to limit

John Wall of the Washington Wizards (left) and Isaiah Thomas of the Boston Celtics. Then John Wall made a mad dash to the sideline at center court, leaping onto the scorer's table and raising his arms high in the air.

Washington's Bradley Beal had 33 points and Wall scored 26 despite shooting nine-of-25 from the field, as they snapped a streak of seven straight elimination-game losses at home.

The home team has won all 10 of the regular season and playoff match-ups between the teams, with both sides performing dramatically different depending on location. "Just go out there and compete, give it our all and see what the outcome (is)". But geography isn't the only factor favouring the Celtics in Game 7.

Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas missed an off-balance 3-point attempt at the final buzzer. In Game 1, Markieff Morris left the game with an ankle injury after landing on Al Horford's foot after a jump shot.

The correct response, as muttered by several players, would be "Game 7" - the dessert of this delectable Eastern Conference semifinal series between rivals that happens Monday night inside TD Garden. Those shots have to fall if Boston wants to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. Washington is just 6-3 in Game 7s.

"Our guys' vibe doesn't ever change", Stevens said. "Avery did a heck of a job on (Wall) all night but he has that confidence to take that shot".

It all began with Thomas' inspirational efforts when the two squads opened up the series in Boston.

There are more numbers that point to a bounce back game in the finale at the Garden. After the Wizards won Games 3 and 4 by 27 and 19 points, respectively, the Celtics roared back with a 123-101 victory in Boston on Wednesday.

On Friday night, the Celtics appeared to pull the same stunt prior to Game 6 of their best-of-7 playoff series against the Wizards. Shooting guard Bradley Beal is averaging 23.8 points per contest, making 46.4 percent of his shots.

Wall continued his trend of slow starts. Also, there have been 126 Game 7s in the history of the National Basketball Association and the home team owns an 80 percent success rate, 101-26.

The deciding factor in this game may be whether or not Boston will be able to limit Gortat on the glass.

The Celtics entered Game 6 with bravado. "Knowing that we're on the road, we have to play great". "They all come to my city wearing all black talking about, 'It's a funeral.' We worked too hard for this, and all we ask for is a Game Seven".

The enduring images, beyond the juggernauts of Cleveland and Golden State, have been of superstars coming up short when they were needed the most, and of heartbroken fans slowly marching up the aisles while the games were grinding to completion.

Though Thomas is eager for the opportunity, one thing he says he won't be is nervous.

Bradley said it wasn't planned.

The two teams have all weekend to think about it and the waiting Cleveland Cavaliers have two more days of rest. "It's a learning experience for our group". Monday's Game 7 with the be the 30th in Celtics history. Boston F Jae Crowder had 10 points.

Even before the all-black attire in Game 6, bad blood has been brewing between the two teams.
