"I can't think of any business where [Berkshire Hathaway is] in where our tax rate puts us at a - and we're in a lot of businesses - significant disadvantage with foreign countries", Buffett told CNBC's Becky Quick.

"In retrospect, I think we were smart enough to figure out Google early, and we didn't", Munger said.

Buffett told the more than 30,000 people who attended the annual meeting that flawed compensation systems - such as the arrangement that rewarded Wells Fargo employees for meeting aggressive sales goals - can promote the wrong behavior.

"The parties hate each other so much, they both get quite irrational", Munger said.

"They actually have to do something", Buffett said.
