Chris Evans talks breakup with 'Gifted' co-star Jenny Slate

Captain America

In case you need another reason to appreciate Chris Evans, a man who visits children's hospitals, sometimes in costume, and says very sweet things about his ex Jenny Slate, allow him to make you "aww" with the story of how he adopted his dog, Dodger, during filming of his new movie Gifted.

The actor shared a pic of him getting a big sloppy kiss from his dog on Valentine's Day, but now we know the backstory. On his recent sit-down interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Evans has apparently confirmed that as soon as "Avengers: Infinity Wars" have ended, it will also signal the end of his role as his contract has already ended. (The movie, in which he raises his genius niece, features a one-eyed cat, but no dogs).

"It's really not up to me", he told Collider. And sure enough they were [up for adoption], so I was walking up and down the aisles and saw this one dude and he didn't belong there. She's the best. I've never ever ever met someone in my life who has a mastery of the English language the way she does. "He loves dogs, he loves kids, he's full of love". As for whether he would do it again, Evans said he was terrified and wouldn't do it again.

In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres to be aired on Monday, April 3, the host asked the "Gifted" star about his two upcoming "Avengers" films and whether this will be his last time playing the role of Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America. "He's up for anything".

"Although I kept like $5", Grace joked. Talk to Marvel. If we engage further, I'd be open to it.
