Facebook Messenger launches clone to Snapchat Stories

And today they've been confirmed, as the company just introduced a new and distinctly Snapchat-like feature to its Messenger app called "Messenger Day". Facebook Messenger users can add fun filters to their images, send them to one friend, or share them with the world, and they'll disappear after 24 hours.

Messenger Day beings rolling out to Android and iOS users in the us on Thursday, with other countries receiving the new feature in the days to follow. After you send a photo or video, the option to Add to your day pops up and once you confirm that, it will be added automatically. Nonetheless, the recently added in-built camera into the Messenger, which earlier allowed users to only share images and videos with their friends on their contact list, now also lets user set these images or videos as their Stories.

Some users have taken to Twitter to complain about the update.

Suddenly, having Facebook messenger as a separate app all makes sense.

In a nutshell, Messenger Day does precisely what your Snapchat Story and your Instagram Story do.

With the addition of Messenger Day, Facebook now offers three major products featuring obvious copies of Snapchat's Stories - Instagram (600 million users), Whatsapp (1.2 billion users) and now Messenger (1 billion users).

Uber CEO Kalanick apologizes for disrespectful conversation with one of his drivers
For someone like Kamel, who went all in on Uber as a luxury-only service, working as a driver just doesn't offer what it once did. We've seen Travis sort of try to address issues at Uber in various ways, but it's all coming to a head right now.

Open Messenger, and tap on the camera highlighted with a sun to celebrate this launch. From within the app, you can choose clips or pics from a chat, or shoot a brand new picture or video, and add them to your "Day".

Messenger Day puts a slight twist on the slideshow format with filters and art that appears created to ignite more conversations on Messenger. You can of course add text, stickers, effects, even a drawing to make your post more interesting.

Snap a quick selfie or take a photo or video of what's around you. When you're satisfied about how your photo or video looks, just tap the arrow in the bottom right corner and it will be posted on your day for 24 hours.

From your camera, capture a photograph or video and select the smiley face icon in the top right corner to add art and effects to the footage captured.

On a basic level, that means you can choose to share your Day with a custom group of friends, family or colleagues.

Users can also pick and choose who they want to be able to see their Messenger Day visual statuses.
