Riot awarded $10 million in in Leaguesharp lawsuit settlement

League of Legends creators Riot Games won a lawsuit against the makers of a cheating and hacking service called LeagueSharp, earning Riot $10 million. Riot's issues with LeagueSharp didn't begin and end with the service allowing players to cheat, the service allegedly doxxed a Riot employee as well.Less than a year later, the lawsuit has been settled and it cost the bot/cheat service big time.

With the victorious legal action, Riot Games sends out a message to all players that cheating will not be tolerated in League of Legends. LeagueSharp offered its services via a monthly subscription of $15, subscribers then had access to a number of hacks they could use. The lawsuit also accuses LeagueSharp of attacking Riot's servers, teaching LoL players how to cheat without being caught and advising them how to fraudulently dispute transactions in-game. Leaguesharp was a scripting/hacking service providing its clients with unfair advantages in-game. It took seven months for the United States court to sign off on a settlement injunction, awarding a $10 million payout and control of all websites under LeagueSharp to Riot Games. Leaguesharp reportedly made profits upwards of hundreds of thousands of dollars a month.

The complaint alleged that LeagueSharp violated League's DMCA, as its product evades Riot's anti-cheating software.

After Charleston, Dylann Roof headed for 2nd AME church, documents say
Investigators traced Roof's route by analyzing a Global Positioning System device found in his vehicle . Roof had represented himself in court since the penalty phase of the trial began.

Finding the head (s) of LeagueSharp was more hard than Riot had expected, three german hackers were behind the service who also allegedly started a shell company to avoid the legal ramifications that would soon ensue. Game companies are in a never-ending battle against cheating services that always seem to be one step ahead, whether its wall hackers in "Counter Strike" or bots in "League of Legends".
