Facebook's autoplay videos to play with sound on

The new app for the Apple TV, Samsung Smart TV and Amazon Fire TV will soon make Facebook literally a part of the users' life, Business Insider reported.

"With the app, you can watch videos shared by friends or Pages you follow, top live videos from around the world, and recommended videos based on your interests".

Yesterday, FB made the announcement that it will be releasing a new Facebook video app for TV.

Last year, Facebook CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg promised to put "video first across our apps".

Until now, videos in news feeds played silently until a user tapped to listen. "That's why we're going to keep putting video first across our family of apps and making it easier for people to capture and share video in new ways".

Hurrah! Airline to start offering free in-flight Netflix and Spotify
The Australian carrier is now speaking to suppliers regarding the extension of its wifi services to global and regional fleets. Existing subscribers will be able to log in to their accounts and access the services during flights as they would normally.

Facebook is adding a picture-in-picture feature so you can watch videos while continuing to scroll through News Feed.

Toggle "Videos in news feed start with sound".

However, if the phone is on silent mode, videos will not play with sound.

The autoplay with sound feature is rolling out only on mobile at this point, so Facebook videos will not start playing automatically with sound on the desktop version of the social network. In fact, Facebook product manager Dana Sittler told that as people watch more videos on mobile devices, they┬┤ve come to expect sound when the volume on their smartphones is turned on, completely ignoring the way in which keeping the video silenced was something people actually liked. All you have to do is to go to Settings and disable the autoplay feature. This is a bit of a headache to anyone as unnecessary videos will also play by default. Once in place, the app is expected to pave the way for better and longer video content from Facebook users themselves. On Android devices, there will also be the option to continue playing the video even after leaving the Facebook app.

The move further accelerates Facebook's competition with Alphabet's YouTube, and also shows how it is looking to snag ad dollars and viewers' attention from the big leagues - broadcast television. You needed to tap on a video to hear its sound. The experience is created to deliver on that promise - [that] you want to watch videos, you want to keep up with the content that you watch episodically week over week.
