'Feud: Bette & Joan' Trailer: Jessica Lange & Susan Sarandon Throw Down

On Monday, Susan Sarandon was a guest on Today and she gave viewers their first look at a new scene from the upcoming FX anthology series, Feud. It is precisely as campy as one would expect.

Susan Sarandon's portrayal of Hollywood icon Bette Davis in new TV series Feud is a dream come true for producer Ryan Murphy after years in the making.

Also among those cast in the eight-episode series, which broadcasts from March 5, 2017, are Alfred Molina, Stanley Tucci, Judy Davis, Jackie Hoffman, Catherine Zeta Jones, Kathy Bates and Sarah Paulson. A fitting choice considering that the real de Havilland would go on to replace Crawford in what was originally planned to be the second onscreen team-up of Crawford and Davis (de Havilland was also notable for having a scandalous decades-long feud of her own with her younger sister Jane Fontaine).

"Ryan had brought it to me when it was a film many years before, and he was going to direct, then someone else was going to direct, and it never (came together)", Susan recalled on USA breakfast show Today. After all, the tabloid storyline wound up being the picture's biggest source of publicity. Judy Davis as legendary gossip columnist Hedda Hopper?

Feud: Bette and Joan premieres in the U.S. on 5 March on FX.
