Madonna confirms adoption of Malawi twin sisters with candid snap

Sharing a sweet picture of herself walking hand-in-hand with the two sisters, Stella and Esther, from Malawi, Madonna spoke out for the first time about her latest adoption.

Court papers revealed that Madonna felt "compelled" to adopt four-year-old twin girls from an orphanage in Malawi - all after hearing about their plight through her charity work.

Little Esther and Stella are the third and fourth children Madonna has adopted from Malawi - she previously took in son David from an orphanage in 2006 and she adopted daughter Mercy James in 2009.

Madonna shared a photo of the twin girls, in matching polka-dot dresses on Instagram.

Facebook's Q4 beats across the board, monthly users up 17 percent

We send Madonna and her two new kids nothing but our very best wishes.

In another post to social media, Madonna urged her fans to donate and support orphanages in Malawi, writing: 'There are 650 Orphans at Home of Hope where Esther and Stella have lived for four years since they were five days old. The singer has a long history with the people of the country and has worked to fight against poverty plaguing Malawi's orphaned children for more than 10 years through her charity, Raising Malawi.

Madonna appeared in the court in Malawian capital Lilongwe with her lawyer alongside the father and the uncle of the children, Malawian judiciary spokesman Mlenga Mvula said. Her previous adoptions have stirred outrage with some citizens accusing government of allowing her to break the laws that ban non-residents from adopting children.

The ruling also said that Madonna, 58, was "above the age normally considered within the ranges of parenting" and had submitted a medical report to prove her good health.

Madonna is already a mother to 20-year-old Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leo with her former partner Carlos Leon and has a 16-year-old, named Rocco Ritchie, with ex-husband Guy Ritchie.
